The absolutely gorgeous weather of summer calls for eating outside. When you call Gallery Bethesda II home, you have the ideal spot to fulfill that mandate, with a rooftop full of amenities and spaces that make entertaining easy, as well as taking it a notch above your average backyard BBQ. Here are a few suggestions to create an al fresco dining experience using the lofty spaces in our luxurious, downtown Bethesda apartment community.
A DIY Pizza Party
Gallery Bethesda II’s pizza ovens make a do-it-yourself pizza party a possibility without overheating your apartment in the warmer weather. This al fresco idea isn’t for the faint of heart, as there’s a fair amount of preparation required, though. Starting with making dough, you can find a simple recipe online, but it needs to be made at least a day ahead of time. If you’re intimidated by making the dough, you can probably convince a local pizzeria to sell you a bunch of their dough to cut the prep work substantially.
From there, you can assemble ingredients for your guests to customize their pies. Sauces can include a tomato sauce, a pesto and garlic butter/olive oil. Popular cheeses include mozzarella, parmesan, asiago, fontina, and smoked cheeses, though any other of your favorites would be a nice personal touch. Toppings can be just about anything you can think of, but fresh veggies from the farmers market and cured meats from Butchers Alley on Bethesda Row would be excellent choices. Then all you have to do is roll or toss the dough, sauce it, top it and slide it in the pizza ovens on the Gallery Bethesda II rooftop, and voila…perfect artisanal pizza made to order. Paired with a pinot grigio, pizza making is a fun and engaging activity that results in delicious experience for all.
A Cultivated Cookout
Sometimes a simple cookout on the grill is the ideal way to spend a day with your friends. To give your gathering a Gallery Bethesda II twist, take a trip back to Butchers Alley. Procure a few of their delicious house-made sausages, freshly ground beef, and anything else that catches your eye from their selection of sustainably sourced meats, and artisanal cheeses and provisions (a chunk of Point Reyes blue cheese would make a fabulous bleu-burger). Upgrading from your standard grilling options will bring a smile to your guests faces and will add a bit of depth to your fire-grilled feast. Add some chips, dips, grilled corn and refreshing beverages, and you’re good for an epic day of R&R.
The Maine Event
What’s better than a freshly made lobster roll on a hot day at the pool? Not much, especially when it’s all prepared for you. For a refreshing change, don your Vineyard Vines and get your shindig catered with sustainable seafood from the shellfish purveyors at Luke’s Lobster. With a little help from Luke’s, you can spend your day enjoying the sun, time with friends, and maybe a Cape Codder cocktail (vodka + Cranberry + lime) or a New England-style hazy IPA.
These are just a few ideas for entertaining at Gallery Bethesda II apartments in downtown Bethesda, but the possibilities are unlimited. With the combination of location and amenities, you owe it to yourself to come for a tour and see all that our community offers. A new apartment with us just might make this the best summer ever!
